I am so excited to announce that I will be presenting at this year’s American Art Therapy Association Annual Art Therapy Conference in sunny San Diego!
The AATA’s 54th Annual Art Therapy Conference will take place October 25-29, 2023 and will be held in San Diego, CA. The conference will feature educational programming centered on themes of creativity, curiosity, and compassion.
My presentation, which explores how to use expressive arts to process pregnancy loss, will be alongside countless other sessions highlighting the multi-faceted strengths of art therapy.

Art Therapy Conference Information
This year’s conference will be held at the Town and Country Resort in San Diego, CA. The AATA Conference Committee has curated a fantastic lineup of sessions in a total of 19 program tracks, from activism and addiction, to technology and trauma.
The AATA art therapy conference will feature 5 days of amazing education programming including the following:
- All-day Advance Practice Courses, Wednesday, Oct. 25
- Core Program Days, Thursday, Oct. 26 – Saturday, Oct. 28
- Half-Day Advance Practice Courses, Sunday, Oct. 29
You can choose from a variety of program tracks, or create your own. Sessions include reservation-based workshops, continuing education sessions, add-on events, and an incredible selection of educational experiences included in the full conference rate. Keynote Speaker for the AATA Art Therapy Conference
This year’s keynote speaker is Roberto Lugo, Philadelphia-based artist, ceramicist, social activist, poet, and educator.
He uses classical pottery forms in conjunction with portraiture and surface design reminiscent of his North Philadelphia upbringing and Hip Hop culture to highlight themes of poverty, inequality, and racial injustice.
My Session Workshop
I am honored to be a presenter at the AATA 2023 Annual Art Therapy Conference this year!
I will be presenting an experiential workshop centered around the unique and unacknowledged experience of pregnancy loss. This workshop is reservation-based so make sure you grab a spot early!
During this interactive workshop session, I will provide an overview of pregnancy loss and the grief that comes with it. Additionally, I will review how to use therapeutic relationship to provide much-needed validation. Lastly, I will explore ways to use expressive arts to provide opportunities for grief healing. Workshop participants will have an opportunity to take part in an experiential expressive arts activity followed by group discussion.
I can’t wait to engage with fellow art therapists and mental health professionals for an incredible week of learning, networking, and art-making!
