Individual therapy offers a perfect opportunity to focus on you. Whether it’s self-exploration, learning new skills, or managing stress, individual therapy is just what your self-care routine needs.

I specialize in therapy for moms, and I offer person-centered telehealth therapy for residents of Pennsylvania.

What is Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy is one-on-one individualized treatment where a therapist helps a client work on their presenting concerns.

This might include self-exploration, identity work, life goals, self-care strategies, parenting skills, trauma healing, and much more.

How Individual Therapy Can Help

At the Center for Creative Counseling, individual therapy clients get one-on-one support in dealing with their issues. Individual therapy and counseling can help you identify sticking points and create actionable steps to get unstuck. I work with you to figure out your goals and determine how best to achieve them.

Individual therapy offers a safe space for you to just be you

The virtual therapy room is a judgement-free zone. It’s a place for you to unload your stuff, sort it out, and get things in balance again.

Research shows that the single most important predictor of progress in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. I will tend to that relationship by providing you with all of the validation, feedback, and tools that you need to take better care of you.

My Individual Therapy Approach

I love working with moms who are ready to tackle their unresolved stuff and start working on getting the life they want.

I see myself as your navigator – a supportive guide, sitting beside you as you move along this part of your journey.

Collaborative and Person-Centered

My therapy style is collaborative. I won’t boss you around or tell you what to do. I want to empower you, not do for you.

You set the course, and I will help you get there.

I will get curious with you, share observations, and challenge your thinking from time to time. It can be vulnerable work but you are in the driver’s seat. The pacing and deep dives are up to you.

Whether it’s past trauma, self-esteem, grief & loss, or other mental health issues, I am here to help you heal. Share what you feel comfortable sharing, I will follow your lead.

A Focus on Resources and Skill-Building

I love to share what I know to help the moms that I work with. Some therapists call it psychoeducation, but that’s just a therapy word for exploratory learning and skills training. I’ll share my favorite resources and tools to teach you what I know about the things you’re interested in.

Some of my favorite areas of focus include:

  • Parental Self-care
  • Setting Clear Boundaries
  • Child & Family Development
  • Parenting Strategies
  • Communication Skills

Clear (and Kind) Feedback

One of the most important parts of my job as your therapist is to give you feedback. And I know all too well how even the word ‘feedback’ can cause some clients to wince. Getting constructive feedback isn’t always fun and I can tell you, it hasn’t always been my favorite either.

BUT – it’s important. It’s empowering. And it’s a key factor toward growth and healing.

It can be really hard to hear feedback when all you’ve known is blame and shame. Let me say loud and clear – any feedback designed to tear you down, shame you into submission, or focus on blame, IS NOT GOOD FEEDBACK. Those who give feedback in this way are projecting their own stuff.

In our work together, I will never give you feedback like that.

I will challenge you, but I won’t blame you. I’ll be curious, but I won’t judge you. I will always validate your mission, and help you examine your method and its impact. Then we will work together to figure out a new method that gets your mission accomplished.

Online Individual Therapy in Pennsylvania

In this new world, aka the pandemic that won’t end, we’ve got a major silver lining – online therapy! And that silver lining extends to individual therapy in Pennsylvania, too. The Center for Creative Counseling provides online therapy in Pennsylvania.

Online individual therapy shares all of the same benefits as in-person individual therapy and has a few of its own, too. With online therapy, you get therapy and counseling from the comfort of your own home, in the room or setting where you feel most comfortable. Many clients report that they feel safer to open up during telehealth therapy versus in an office setting. You also get the added benefit of using digital tools as well.

Plus, I utilize and provide digital therapy worksheets, presentations, guided journals, and workbooks, depending on the situation.

I use a secure telehealth platform to protect your privacy and maintain confidentiality. I also use a secure messaging and email platform that allows for the safe exchange of information to help us do the work with ease.

Therapy for Moms in Pennsylvania

I specialize in therapy for moms in Pennsylvania because I am a mom and I know what it’s like to struggle in the role. Thanks to some excellent training, personal therapy, and years of experience, I also know how to navigate the tough parts of being a mom.

My clients deserve the same care and attention that helped me get more balance in my life. My extensive experience working with parents (and as a mom to a spirited kiddo) has equipped me to do the same for you.

A Note About Parenting Work

I love to help moms with parenting skills, strategies, and tools. And individual therapy can be the perfect setting for that work.

However – there are situations where individual therapy is not the most appropriate place for that parenting work to occur. In those instances, I may recommend a different mode of treatment.

For example, if during the initial assessment we determine that parenting challenges and family relationships are the most pressing concerns, I might recommend family therapy.

Additionally, if you are not the only caregiver and we identify couple or coparenting challenges, I may recommend couples counseling and/or coparenting work.

For parenting work to be most effective, it helps to be really clear about my role, the specifics about the therapy I’m providing, and who we need to participate in sessions.

No matter what mode of treatment we decide on, we will work together to map it out.
